Valley of the Kings is a tunnel to the afterlife and a staircase to the heavens for the greatest kings and queens of Egypt's New Kingdom (1570-1070 BC). It is probably the most important archaeological site in the world as it became a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1979. It contains 63 tombs filled with countless enchanting artifacts, decorations, and the remains of pharaohs like Ramses (I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII, IX, X), Amenhotep I, Hatshepsut, and the famous boy-king Tutankhamun.
Hatshepsut Temple is the finest reflection of the allure & grandeur of the new Kingdom (1550-1070 BC) and showcases the great statue of one of the most successful rulers in the history of Ancient Egypt Queen Hatshepsut. The temple is called Deir El-Bahari and was once known as Djeser-Djeseru (Holy of Holies). It was designed in 1479 BC by Hatshepsut s chancellor Senenmut and took 15 years to construct & the design of the temple is based on the concept of Classical Architecture. It holds some of the most impressive decorations and statues in all of Egypt.
Colossi of Memnon is an ancient art piece protecting the city from all harm. The colossi consist of two colossal blocks of quartzite sandstone standing at the height of 18 m (60ft) weighing 720 tons each which has the shape of Amenhotep III(1386-1350). The colossi are quite damaged due to a large earthquake in 27 BC but were rebuilt again in 199 AD. The statues were famous during the Greco-Roman period as there used to be a rumor of The Vocal Memnon as the statues sang at dawn in a crying sound from time to time which was nothing more than the sound of the wind passing through the statue.
You will then have your lunch on an island as your tour includes a boat trip on the Nile river. Then end your tour in Luxor by visiting:
Karnak temple is one of the holiest archeological sites in the world and one of the world's biggest man-made constructions & open-air museums in the world. It holds a great number of Greek and roman artifacts and decorations in its three-level stories which made it gain the title of one of the seven wonders of the Middle Ages.
Pompey's Pillar is a great pillar of ancient roman times, it is the largest monolith column ever built outside of Rome and stands at a height of 28m tall and 2.7 m wide of pure red granite, and on its western upper side is a Greek inscription dedicated to Emperor Diocletian.
