The Church of St. Catherine is the main church within the monastery and is renowned for its beautiful Byzantine architecture and religious artworks. The holy of Holies Hatshepsut temple is a glowing wonder of power, beauty, and feminism which is created to honor the birth, legacy, and faith of Queen Hatshepsut (1507–1458 BC) who is one of the most successful rulers in history and the priestess wife of Amun. The temple is situated at the base of cliffs and stands as a masterpiece of ancient Egyptian architecture. It consists of three terraced levels connected by ramps and colonnades. The loyal guardians of the golden Colossi of Memnon are two gigantic statues that once guarded the entrance to the mortuary temple of Amenhotep III (1386 - 1349 BC) that were created in 1350 BC.
